Our History

Kre8ing Your IdeaS

Family Owned and Operated (Formerly) Keeping You In Stitches

est.1996

In 1996, Gayle Johnson found herself in need of an embroidery service that no one seemed to offer in her community. Intrigued by the idea, she inquired about purchasing an embroidery machine. After making her purchase, she was able to enroll in a one day training and set up course. And on October 20, 1996, in the basement of her home, Gayle Johnson started her business, Keeping You In Stitches.

In true entrepreneurial spirit, Gayle worked tirelessly to build her dreams, while working full time at International Paper from 12am -8am. Shortly after starting KYIS, Gayle was given the opportunity to set up a kiosk in Security Square Mall for the holiday season, where she would work from 10am – 9:30pm.

After a short time of juggling both the jobs, and a change in her hours at International Paper, Gayle chose to take a leap of faith and resign to focus on her business.

Kre8ing Your IdeaS continued to grow, expanding to Owings Mills Mall in 2002 and eventually to its own store front location on Security Blvd in 2008.

The business has blossomed into a family enterprise as Gayle has enlisted the assistance of her daughters Danielle, who specializes in designs and graphics and Gabrielle who manages customer service and operations; each one bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to the family business.

Having successfully navigated our way through a global pandemic, an economic event that has challenged our business in ways we could not have imagined. We are continuing to deliver quality embroidery services at reasonable cost to our community. In 2021 we purchased our very own building and are excited to grow and expand the business.
